I’ve been blessed to noodle catfish in Alabama, catch bass in Tennessee, hunt ducks in Arkansas and scour clearings and woods all over the Southeast. The beauty of nature in our corner of the world is something — spending an entire day on the water with family and friends, watching the sun glint on the lake’s surface, is as close to God as you can get here on earth.
The outpouring of support I’ve received during my Southern adventures has been truly humbling. I’m just doing what I love; I never expected to get so much attention for it, but I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to share the South, and Alabama, with people all over the country.
I’m All About the South — our great outdoors and our shared Southern traditions — so when Jack’s asked me to be a part of their recent Catfish promotion, it was an easy “Yes!” In the same way that Jack’s is All About the South — from the warmth of the folks working there to the way they lovingly make each meal by hand — I’m all about it, too.
For the last 60 years, Jack’s has grown because they’ve always shared our Southern roots and Southern values, and those ideas resonate with people, no matter where they’re from. Through my posts and videos, I’ve learned that people all over this country love to hear our stories from this corner of the world.
After spending a day exploring the great outdoors, the tradition for my family has always been to stop by a Jack’s on the way home. Growing up in Columbiana, Jack’s would be our dinner after a day of adventure — the biggest, coldest drinks; the perfect breading on their chicken; biscuits that taste like someone’s grandma made them; and, of course, the Comeback Sauce.
I am an Alabama girl, after all. I love spending each day showing stories of our amazing Southern life, like catfish noodling, to new audiences all over the world.
I wish everyone could have the experience of wading into murky waters to take on a 60-pound catfish — these moments force you outside your comfort zone and really connect you to how amazing our natural world really is.
Noodling is all about reaching into the unknown, and I think that can make us all a little bit bolder.
I hope to continue to be bold in my pride for our awesome Southern traditions — and I’m proud to support Jack’s for celebrating an amazing culture of teamwork, hospitality and authentic Southern flavors.
From that first catfish bite down in a hole beneath a boat dock to the first bite of Jack’s Southern Fried Catfish (with a hushpuppy, of course), the natural wonder, charm and hospitality here are incredible, and I’m thankful to be All About the South.
